the story of how i met rajendra prasad.

today i went to the park to meet my friend.
but he was getting late,
and i had no way of contacting him,
since i didn’t recharge my phone.
i had to ask someone.

i walked up to the security uncle,
and he was kind enough to give me his phone.

after talking to my friend,
i handed him back his phone.
and we started talking.

i asked his name,
and he replied: “rajendra prasad.”
i was like, whoaaaaaaaaaa.
isn’t that the name of the first president of india?
yes it is, he replied.

“i guess your parents are very smart”, i said.
“ah no, actually i chose this name for myself”, he said.
ayo damn.

and he told his story:
his name was actually sujaathan.
sujata is a girl’s name, and nobody would name anyone sujaathan.
at least in this generation.
it’s very, very rare, i guess.

when he was 8 years old,
his family and him were at the bus stop waiting to go somewhere.
and then my guy saw this bus,
with “rajendra prasad” written on it.
i guess the name must have struck into his mind so much,
he started yelling at his parents to change his name to rajendra prasad.

“didn’t your parents ask you, ‘are you crazy?’” i asked.
but i guess nothing is impossible.

life never fails to surprise you.
